The following article was written for my Writing for the Media class. The requirments were to write a 1000 word article for a magazine of your choice. I wrote the following article to be published in Wired or PC World.
Digital Eye for the Unplugged Guy
'Tis the season to be shopping and what better time then now to revamp your digital life. With companies striving to get you to buy into their digital lifestyle it can be difficult to choose the right equipment. Being a college student makes the choices even harder; as cash flow can be an issue. The Digital Guys are here to help transform you and get plugged in. Most people have no idea what they have coming their way; many people's lives go something like this:
It's Monday morning and your alarm clock is blaring trying to get you out of bed and start your week. You get up, get dressed, and grab your bag of notebooks and pens. On the walk to class you struggle to tune in a clear radio station. You finally tune in a station that is playing your favorite band with the all the enhancements of FM static. Finally at class, you whip out your college ruled notebook and a pen. Class starts, but your pen has gone dry, luckily Adam (who was using a laptop to take notes), has a spare. After a grueling week of classes, the weekend finally comes around and you invite some friends over to watch The Matrix Reloaded on your combo 13" TV/VCR. Pop in the tape and WHAM the VCR eats another tape. Wow there is a lot of work to be done.
